Active Shooter Preparedness and Response

An Active Shooter incident can occur at anyplace and anytime. Whether the motivation is workplace violence, domestic dispute or terrorism the aim is the same, to hurt or kill as many innocent people as possible. Preparation and training  can play an important role in mitigating the impact of an Active Shooter incident or even prevent it. The Counter-Terrorism Certification Board works with both governmental and private sector entities to provide others with the tools and resources to prepare for such incidents.

In today’s environment, with the increasing frequency of Active Shooter incidents throughout the world, there is a greater burden and expectation placed upon private sector entities to be prepared for and be able to responsibly respond to an Active Shooter incident.

The first session addresses preparing your site and team for an Active Shooter incident. Using case studies and real world scenarios we will look at examining the threat environment, security awareness, senior management and C-suite buy-in, mutual aid agreements, law enforcement liaison and site preparations.

The second session will focus primarily on the response to an active shooter by the security team and other employees, the strategy of Run, Hide, FIght, and post incident response such as emergency first aid issues, working with first responders, press and media, social media considerations and some after action case studies of some of the more well known Active Shooter terror incidents throughout the world.
